Fasika Melkam

Carnero recién comprado en Addis Abeba
Passover began in Ethiopia. Saturday was the feast of the Fasika, after 56 days of Lent. We have held in the Nuria , the Ethiopian restaurant on the street runs Manuela Ali Malasaña 6 of Madrid, where in recent days we have enjoyed good company and evocative flavors. I will tell you more in future entries.
In Addis Ababa, as in the rest of Ethiopia, traditionally Christian families celebrated the end of Lent by eating chicken, beef or lamb. It is the great feast of the Orthodox, which give more importance to the commemoration of the death of Jesus than of his birth. And, as always, after fasting, the markets were filled in looking for the best part and demand again prices soaring.
The picture was taken in the market of Shiro Meda, Kilo Sidist north, near the Embassy of Spain in Addis. Http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
